DAN SCHACHNER
THE STORY
After his unceremonious firing from the NFL in 2010 for being “too soft” on the players,
Dan decided to set his referee sights a little lower. About five feet lower.
15 years later, as the only human on a field of adorable adoptable animals, being the official Puppy Bowl Referee has become a full-time job for Dan. The latest Puppy Bowl XXI was another huge success with over 12 million viewers tuning in and begging the question "how do we top ourselves next year?"

Promoting the big game has become as intense as the game itself, with appearances everywhere from "The Today Show" to "The Kelly Clarkson Show" to "CNN" to "Watch What Happens Live" to "Good Morning America."

When not officiating dogs Dan officiates humans as a the host of his Instagram interview series "Tough Mutt to Crack".

A long time advocate for animal rescue and fostering, Dan enjoys hosting fundraisers for rescue charities across the country. In 2018 he was awarded the “Animal Welfare Hero” award from the Baltimore Humane Society.

As an expert in pet safety, pets in pop culture, pet adoption, pet fostering, and dog trivia, he has has collaborated with brands such as Wisdom Panel, Orbitz, Stella and Chewy’s, Subaru, Petco and Xfinity, among others.
